Inmate Worker Supervisor

May be a sworn or civilian position which is responsible for screening, supervising and training inmate workers to perform a variety of tasks inside a jail or prison; or in some jurisdictions, performing work in a community setting. The supervisor works closely with security and program staff to ensure that selected inmates pose an appropriate level of risk. The supervisor also works with those entities outside the facility for which inmates perform work (e.g., highways, parks, community centers) to develop and oversee work.
